Dermal fillers are used to fill out or plump up lines on the face such as those between the nose and the corner of the mouth.

The products used for filling tend to be clear gels containing a commonly found substance in your skin called Hyaluronic acid, this bind with the skins naturally occuring water to increase it’s volume. As we get older the amount of Hyaluronic acid in our skin diminishes, in fact, a new born actually has approx. 30 times more of this than a middle age adult, this is one of the reasons that it loses it’s elasticity and skin tone.

Dermal fillers are naturally metabolised by the body and as such dermal filling is not permanent, this means that repeat treatments are necessary every 6-9 months to maintain the appearance, however, the advantage of this is that it also removes the risk of permanent unwanted effects such as the infamous “trout pout”, when used to give volume to the lips.

Areas commonly treated include lines above and below the mouth, lines between the nose and mouth and also frown and laughter lines that have not completely softened with Botox. Like botox treatment, dermal filling is a quick, risk free and relatively painless procedure.
